ABOUT TASHATHA LIBRARY
The creation of this blog is an innovation that will go a long way in benefiting Tashatha CJSS community and all other schools that wish to benchmark for better information sharing. It is my hope that Tashatha Library blog will help improve access to much needed information and promote pillars of Vision 2016: An Educated and Informed Nation. Tashatha Library is therefore taking a step to enter into the information and digital age on the right footing with other ICT sector in this 21st Century.
Let us all use this innovative tool for information sharing resulting in result improvement.

ABOUT TASHATHA LIBRARY
Tashata Library is a resource center for Tashatha Community Junior Secondary School (CJSS), located in Tatisiding near the City of Francistown, about 450 KM north of Gaborone. Tashatha CJSS is an inclusive school with a Special Education unit which caters for the Hearing Impairment learners.
Tashatha Library was opened in 1991 when the school was officially open. The Library aims to be a center for academic excellence by providing access to information in its different formats to cater for all users including those with Hearing Impairment.
Tashatha Library received internet connectivity through the Tati Nickel result improvement project and boasts of shared resources in terms of ICT equipment in the form of computers, projector and screen and printers.
The library provides a conducive environment for learning through reading carrels designed to maximize concentration and a mini personalized environment for delving into the world of information.

CODE OF CONDUCT
(Library Rules and Regulation)
- Library users are to leave their bags by the library entrance.
- Library users should maintain silence in the library.
- Eating, drinking and chewing in the library are not allowed.
- Handle books with care i.e. with clean and dry hands.
- Folding and tearing of pages from books is not allowed.
- Minimize movement and pushing of furniture in the library.
- Avoid re-shelving of books.
- If in doubt, ask for assistance from the librarian.
- Leave library arrangement undisturbed.
- Report any irregularity to the library Staff.

Mr. M. Motswaiso
(Teacher Librarian)
Mr. Motswaiso is the school's Librarian, a graduate of Library and Information Studies. He is responsible for driving and articulating the vision of Tashatha Library, crystallizing library operations and services and for setting the tone of the library. He is available to the library users, to inspire them and motivate them to appreciate the value of information and lifelong learning. By incorporating the world of Information Technology into information management, access to much needed information by the users is assured.
(Library Assistant)
Ms. Mathumo is responsible for the day to day running of the Tashatha Library. She ensures the meticulous organization of the library in order to meet all your information needs. She has immense experience of 10 years in library operations and through her attention to details, Tashatha Library has become a conducive place for learning where users can delve into information areas of interest.

DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE
- Help in the day to day running of the library.
- Help in stocking the library-thus selecting resources to be available in the library.
- Supervise the library monitors.
- Select library monitors and other library users.
- Process library books.
- Assist in helping to open the library when the librarian is not around.
DUTIES OF THE LIBRARY MONITORS
- To process library books and record other materials acquired for the library.
- Issue out library materials loaned to users and also retrieve it from users.
- Be responsible for the immaculate arrangement of all library materials and furniture.
- Maintain cleanliness in the library.
- Supervise library users by enforcing the rules and regulations.
- Maintain order in the library.
- Offer assistance to users who might need to be guided through the information sources.
LIBRARY OPERATION
Both the Open Access and Closed Access methods will be used.
The Open Access method is one where the library is open to users at any time of the day whereas for the Closed Access method, the library is open within specified time and to a specific group of people.
The Open Access method will be applicable in the afternoons where users will use
the Library on ‘first come first served’, whereas the Close Access method will be applicable during lesson times where specified classes visit the library at their specified time. Both methods will be used within the stipulated opening hours of the library. Users may utilize the library at any other time of the day when it is not occupied and under the supervision of the Librarian/library monitor/Committee member/staff member.

LENDING PERIOD
The normal lending period of library books shall be two weeks for staff members and one week for students. Some items such as periodicals shall be loaned out for a period of only 24 HRS.
Should the borrower require items longer, they must generally renew in person.
Number of materials per loan
Users shall be allowed to borrow only two items at a time.
